My random act of kindness!

When I lived in Korea, I used to see a thin old woman with white hair in my neighbor in 1990.
On the street, she was pushing her handcart and looking around the supermarket garbage and trashcans to collect some empty boxes. She walked on the street all day long every day to collect the boxes. Whenever I went out, I could see her. Even though it was exhausting for her, she had a smile on her face. One day I met her at the back of the supermarket by chance. We had a small talk and I found out that she lived alone without a family so she collected some boxes, sold them to buy some food. After that I had an idea. I was planning on collecting some boxes that were taken away at home
and giving her them. I also met my neighor and talked about the old woman how to help. Fortunately neighbors agreed to help her. At that time, we lived in the same townhouse so we collected boxes at back yard and gave her them once a week. I was happy to share a good thing with other people and my family. A small act of kindness gave people more confidence to live. Later on, I hope my children may help someone in other way.

I loved to watch movie.

Last saturday I borrowed DVDs st public library. The title was "Bridget Jones ..the edge of reason." It was absolutely hilarious romantic comedy.
The actress was Renee Zellweger who was in love with Mark. He was a human right lawyer and loved her from the heard even though she was a clumsy, fat, and insecure person. One day, they broke their commitment due to her jealousy.
After that, she went to the Thiland with her boss to shoot the show.
Unfortunatelly, she got involved to the serious international incident and was saved by Mark.
Finally, she realized that he really has been loved her so accepted his proposal of marriage.
I really like to see the romantic comedy because it makes me happy.
Next day, I will see other kinds of movie such as adventure or science fiction.

Anne of Green Gables.

Last week I borrowed the book " Anne of Green Gables" at the moving library cart.
The book was one of famouse world fairly tales.
The book was written by Lucy Maud Montgomery who was born on Prince Edward Island in Canada.
She was popular through the book series of the world.
I had also read the book when I was a child. Sometimes I'd watched the animation on TV.
I was impressed that Anne was strong, positive and warm-hearted at that time.
Also she lived with passion and patience in her whole life though she was poor and sad.
She always liked imagining a lot and taking adventure so she often made mistakes.
She was thin, long-red hair with a lot of freckles when she was eleven years old.
However she was an attractive and lovely girl.
She talked to people truely and they became to love her.
While I'm reading the book, I felt good in mood.
Whenever I would have a bad situation, I'll remember " Anne Shirley" as a roll model.
I kept in my mind that she thought

" Life is going to be good all of us!"

Useful field trip!

On June 11, I participated in field trip.
The Roundhouse Community Centre was one of a kind for people of all ages.
Also it's a heritage and historical building in Yaletown.
Although I live in the neighbour, I had never visited the centre before.
It was absolutely useful.
Above all, many people can enjoy the activity such as health and fitness and arts classes
at an affordable cost.
I'm interested in Pottery so I'd like to make mug cups.
After that I'd like to give them to people on special day.

Enjoy Night Market !

Last Saturday, I went to the Night Market in Richmond with my daughter and my son.
This Night Maket was one of a kind  so  I was absolutely excited.
Many people visited the Market and enjoyed weekend with their family and friends.
There were a lot of small vendors that served different kind of Asian food.
The most imfortant thing was to bring cash because most vendors accepted cash-only.
The foods were out of this world.
Especially grilled squids smelled fantastic and were really delicious.
First of all, I was interested in cooking so I had a ball.
Though I was tired looking around for a couple of hours, it was a place worth visiting.
Enjoy a marvelous time in summer unique event!

Fabulous experience!

Vancouver Food and Cooking Festival is held at BC Place Stadium on May 24, 25 and 26.
I was interested in culinary so I went  there with my daughter on May 24.
There were a lot of booths and diverse food, beverage, organic tea and coffee.
We could eat a bite of food that we had never been tasted before.
The food was one-of-a-kind and fantastic.
Actually the food was quite different from Korean food.
Two hours later, we bought flavor Persian cookies that struck our fancy.
Throughout the festival, we got a exotic experience.
I would like to challenge to do a culinary competition next year.

A joyful day!

On May 20, my daughter, my son, and I went to play golf at the Stanley Park Pitch and Putt.
As the golf course was not regular, we just used a short iron and a putter.
Especially there was free of hazards and bunker.
The place was gorgeous garden with splendid flowers.
While we were playing golf, we saw the raccoon was going down from the tree.
I was excited to see the raccoon in front of me.
Playing golf is my cup of tea, and so I sometimes had played golf with my friends in Korea.
At that day I had a ball with my family.

Letter of Complaint

Dear Ms. Miller,

I would like to request  change of menu on pizza day.

Although we like doughnuts  and do not pack for a lunch, parents would like you to change the unhealthy food you serve.
You  give children doughnuts and sugary drinks with the pizza. Because the food contains too much sugar, it is unhealthy for teeth. Also there are no vitamins and mineral. In addition, it causes obesity.  Therefore we suggest to give our children nutritional food on pizza day.

I would appreciate it consider changing the menu to be more healthier.

Sincerely,

Seunghee Lee

I love Stanley Park !

On Tuesday April 23rd, I went to the field trip to Stanley Park with my teacher, Andrea, and my classmates. It was gorgeous weather. It was warm sunshine and clearing. First, we got on the number 19 bus at the intersection on main street. It took about 25 minutes to Lost Lagoon. The Lost Lagoon was the most largest lake at the Stanley Park. At first I saw mallard ducks and a pair of swans. Then I stopped by Nature House. Unfortunately it closed and I couldn't see inside. We can get more information about the animals and plants at there. After that we walked along on Tatlow Walk. We saw a massive Cedar that the bark was stringly and soft. Along the Tatlow  there was two more conifers, Douglas Fir, and Western Hemlock. An hour later, I arrived at Beaver Lake. There was a beaver'lodge in the middle of the lake. Some people read a book sitting on the bench, other had a picnic. They looked happily. When I lived near the lower mountain in Seoul, I often walked around the forest three times a week with my neighbor rain or shine. It's good for health. After finishing tour, I was in good mood. Nature gave me healing. I had a marvelous time. I would like to go there with my family on the weekend.

Fantastic experiences in Turkey!

Four years ago, my family had a marvelous summer vacation. Especially Turkey had both of two cultures between Asia and Europe.
First, we visited palace museum in Istanbul. It was absolutely huge and also had gorgeous jewels and gems and so on. After that, we ate lunch at the Turkish restaurant. The food that was called kebab was out of this world. In the afternoon, we moved to Grand Bazaar that was the most enormous  traditional market. We saw gorgeous plates that was not only colorful paintings, but special design.
The next day, we were thrilled because we got a hot-air ballon before sunrise. While we saw fantastic shaped rocks on the ground, the sun began to rise. The scenery was absolutely fantastic and it was the most beautiful scene I had ever seen.
Turkish people always enjoyed to drink tea that was called "Cay". At first, I was curious about tea, and so I tried once on a ship. After that, tea was more attractive than coffee. Finally, during the tour I drank tea twice a day rain or shine.
When I turned back to Korea, I planned to go to Hawaii on next vacation.

Spring break!

Hi Amalia,

 I hope you're doing well.
During the spring break, I went to the Metrotown  Centre at Burnaby with my daughter and my son. There were about 220 stores  and also it was pretty huge. First we went to men's store on the 2nd floor. My son chose a brown jacket and tried it on at fitting room. As soos as he came out at there wearing a jacket, we thought it looked good on him. Immediately he bought it. After that we moved to women'wear store on the 3rd floor. My son and I were waiting on the sofa while my daughter looked around.
Finally she decided to buy a green blouse. When we came back to home, we were very tired. However  we were very marvelous time to enjoy with my family. How was your spring break? Did you do anything special with your family? I'm looking forward to getting together with you soon.
Take care.

 Seunghee.
